ABAP recently elected its first male president in the person of Mr. Sol Fernandez of Iloilo City. Mr. Fernandez is the artistic director of the SF School of Dance and is one of the leading figures of dance in the Visayas.

Sol will have a busy board in 2011 as ABAP reaches out to foster unity trough dance. Joining him as Vice President will be Lilibeth Trinidad- Santos from Cabanatuan City, Noemi Silangcruz  as Secretary , Marichu Nepomuceno  was re-elected as Treasurer while Bubbles Encarnacion was formally elected as PRO.

May the spirit of the dance be with our new officers. Bravo!

The ABAP dance caravan comes alive this December at the SM City Clark event center in Angeles City, Pampanga.

It will be held on December 4, 2010 at 4pm. ABAP member schools from Luzon are participating  in the show open to the public.

Christmas dinner, meeting  & elections for the 2011 board will be held on Monday,  December 6, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This will be the last member assembly for the year.

The ABAP marked its 17th staging of the Danseries at the Tanghalang Pasigueno, City of Pasig for the first time. Danseries XVII entitled "Pinoy Talaga" pays tribute to the ingenious choreographic works and dances of the country.

It was held November 28, 2010 (Sunday) at 2:00pm with member schools from around the country participating in the event.


 
In cooperation with the Association of Ballet Academies, Philippines and Ms. Ianne Damian, the ABAP pathway project was launched this month to aid each dance teacher and director in their professional needs. Six dance directors comprised the initial batch and more are expected to undertake this course in the coming editions.

 ABAP was host to the second (2nd) national amateur ballet ensemble competition in the country, The ABAP DANCE CUP 2010 was held last October 2 & 3 at the Meralco Theater. Eighteen (18) ABAP and non–ABAP member schools nationwide, participated, which translated the competition to three hundred fifty (350) competitors aged six (6) years old and upwards; totaling sixty nine (69) ensemble entries. Competing groups vied for trophies in various categories as Classical Ballet; National, Folklore, or Stylized Character Dance; and Contemporary or Lyrical Dance.

The artistic arm of ABAP, The ABAP Dance Cup Guild, spearheads The ABAP Dance Cup 2010 which is held only every two (2) years. and is chaired by Nina Anonas De Santos with  Chelo Borromeo Gemina as vice chair..

The ABAP Dance Cup 2010   is quickly reputed as a harbinger of Filipino talent. It continuesto be the associations effort to raise Philippine dance to a level that will make it competitive by world standards.

To date, winners from the 1st ABAP  Dance Cup in 2008, have gone on to represent the country in the prestigious New York International Competition, and have begun professional dance careers with Philippine Ballet Theater, Singapore Dance Theater, and the Alabama Ballet.

The city of Angeles in Pampanga played host to the 1st dance caravan of the year. Led by 2010 ABAP president, Liza Castaneda, five schools performed before an appreciative crowd at the Marquee mall in Ayala Center. Coming all the way from Quezon City was Tita Merle from House of Dance, Marichu of Center of Movement & Music and Ridgepoint Ballet of Teacher Liza while Teacher Lilibeth went down from Cabanatuan City. Bubbles of the The Dance Conservatory played gracious hosts and coordinators of the event. Bravo to the participating schools and directors.

The 2009 Board met for the last time last December 7 at the Legend Villas in Mandaluyong City to plan for the new season and renew old ties in the season of cheer. An election of the 2010 board was held after the short brunch.
